Crafting Truffle Oil at Home: A Flavorful DIY Guide

Select a high-quality olive oil and a fresh black truffle for this truffle-infused oil recipe. Opt for either a whole truffle or shaved truffle based on your preference.

  1. Gently warm the olive oil in a pot, ensuring it reaches 120 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature, avoiding boiling or burning.
  2. Introduce the truffle to the oil, stirring delicately. The quantity of truffle depends on your desired intensity, with a common ratio being 1 tablespoon of shaved truffle or 1 whole truffle per 1/2 cup of oil.
  3. Allow the truffle and oil blend to steep for approximately 30 minutes, or until the oil returns to room temperature. The longer the steeping time, the more pronounced the truffle flavor will be.
  4. Strain the oil using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to eliminate any truffle remnants. Optionally, retain some truffle pieces for added infusion.
  5. Transfer the truffle-infused oil to a clean, sealed glass jar or bottle. Store it in a cool, dark place, away from heat and light. Consume the oil within a few days due to its limited shelf life.
  6. For enhanced flavor and an extended shelf life, consider adding a few drops of truffle essence to the oil.

Utilize the truffle oil to drizzle over salads, soups, pasta, pizza, eggs, cheese, or any dish seeking an infusion of truffle essence. Indulge in the heightened flavors!
